Girls outshine boys in HSC The boys’ pass rate is 67.61 per cent while that of girls 70.43 per cent

The pass rate of girls is 2.82 per cent higher than boys in this year’s Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and its equivalent examinations, reports UNB.

The overall pass rate in the examinations is 68.91 percent. The boys’ pass rate is 67.61 per cent while that of girls 70.43 per cent.

Some 422,390 boys out of total 624,775 who sat for the examinations came out successful in the examinations while 379,321 girls out of 538,595 came out victorious.

Although the number of GPA-5 achievers is 20,307 less than that of previous year, boys outshone girls in the field this year as 20,535 boys got GPA-5 against 17,434 girls.

The number of GPA-5 obtainers in all education boards is 37,969 this year while it was 58,276 last year.

The results of this year’s Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and its equivalent examinations were published on Sunday, showing a pass percentage of 68.91 which is 5.79 percent lower than that of last year.

Of these, 66.84 per cent passed the HSC examinations while 77.02 per cent came out successful in Madrassah Board and 81.33 percent in Technical Board examinations.

A total of 801,711 examinees came out successful in the examinations in all the 10 education boards of the country.

This year, a total of 1.183 million candidates appeared at the examinations that began on April 2. The written tests ended on May 15 while practical tests on 25 May.

Earlier, education minister Nurul Islam Nahid along with the chairmen of all the education boards handed over the results to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her official residence Ganobhaban at 10:17am.
