During COP19 in Warsaw, major companies to showcase contributions and commitments towards climate action, 19 and 20 November

NGO News Desk :: What: On the margins of the UN Climate Change Conference in Warsaw (COP 19, 11 – 22 November)
major companies will showcase their contributions and commitments towards climate action,
thereby helping to build political momentum towards a strong universal climate agreement in
2015.
At a special high-level Business Forum on 19 and 20 November, businesses will lay out their
plans and initiatives to curb their greenhouse gas emissions and become more resilient to
climate change. This will include announcements by major Chinese companies and other
global companies’ efforts to dramatically increase renewable sources of energy such as wind
and solar.
The Caring for Climate Business Forum: Innovation. Ambition. Collaboration. at COP19/CMP9
also provides an opportunity for business leaders to interact with policy makers.
The event will be opened by high-level speakers including COP 19 President and Poland’s
Minister of Environment Marcin Korolec, the UN’s top climate change official Christiana
Figueres and President and CEO of World Resources Institute (WRI) Andrew Steer.
Day one (19 November, open to the media) will feature a dozen focused thematic sessions
designed to spur climate action and inspire collaboration.
Day two (20 November, not open to the media), a high-level meeting will bring together
senior C4C and UNEP-FI signatories with ministers, Heads of UN agencies and civil society to
put forward recommendations for Government actions that will help bring greater scale and
quality to corporate climate leadership. Media will be briefed on recommendations that will
be put forward at this meeting (Press Briefing: 9:30, Press Conference Room 1, TBC).

1. COP19/CMP9 Media Accreditation:
Requests for media accreditation must be submitted through the UNFCCC online media
accreditation and registration system. Online accreditation is the official channel to obtain
registration for the media for a conference or event.
