EU Ambassador meets RMG workers in Chittagong

GIZNGO News Desk :: During his visit in Chittagong, European Union Ambassador William Hanna met a group of female garment workers, representatives from the local NGOs Agrajattra, OWDEB and representatives from Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, German Development Cooperation, at Hotel Avenue, Chittagong last Monday. The European Union is financially supporting labor law and fire safety awareness as well as capacity building of 100,000 Ready-made Garment (RMG) sector workers through 45 Women Cafes, facilitated by local partner NGOs. The Ambassador exchanged views with the workers and representatives of NGOs to get insights and perspectives on the recent situation of working conditions in the RMG sector. He appreciated the creative and interactive approach to train labor law through the popular game Ludo in the Women Café developed by GIZ.
